Hydro jetting and things you should know

To start, hydro jetting is the process of high pressure water used to flush out a sewer system of buildup and debris. This process was originally made popular for industrial business where grease buildup over time would clog pipes. Primarily the restaurant business.

Over time, fittings for hydro jetting hoses were invented that specialize in removal of more solid debris like root intrusions.

The most common issue people can run into when deciding which hydro jetting company to hire is a lack of understanding that hydro jetting with a fitting designed to focus on the removal of grease is going to be very ineffective on something like root intrusions.

As you may recall from a previous newsletter a properties main sewer line typically runs in both a 4″ and 6″ piping. With the 4″ portion on property and a standard 6″ diameter transition as the sewer line runs off property on its way to the city sewer.

Many companies that advertise their sewer line cleaning services do not use the proper equipment to get the job done right. Unfortunately some of these companies do so quite on purpose.

Saving thousand can save deals!

The sewer saddle. Its that last joint in a sewer system before connecting to the city sewer and it is the very last point of responsibility for a home owner. When the saddle is broken, cracked or severely root intruded the only option was to dig up the street (typically the center) and install a new connection and finally repave the street. At a typical cost of $8,000 to $25,000 to dig up the center of the street it is never pleasant news to deliver on site when this connection was damaged.
